“It’s All About the Memories”
By Courtenay Cooper Hall
Named one of Television Week’s “10 Most Bankable Stars in Syndication,” Emmy award-winning entertainment journalist Nancy O’Dell has proven to be a force in all areas of her career as a host, author, producer and entrepreneur. One of the country’s most respected and leading entertainment journalists, O’Dell is the host of the most-watched entertainment news program in the world, “Entertainment Tonight.” In her role, Nancy has already garnered exclusive interviews with President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Oprah, Angelina Jolie, Second Lady Jill Biden, Oscar winner Jamie Foxx, as well as actors Johnny Depp and Robert Pattinson.
Although Nancy spends most of her days on set reporting about what’s hot in the entertainment industry, this down-to-earth Southern belle who grew up in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, really values her role as a mom, a wife and a published author of three best-selling books. In partnership with Creative Memories, O’Dell published Full of Life: Mom-to-Mom Tips I Wish Someone Told Me When I Was Pregnant and Full of Love: Mom-to-Mom Advice for Enriching Families with Simple Photo Albums and Scrapbooking, which became the company’s #1 bestseller and the inspiration for launching her own photo album line, The Nancy O’Dell Collection. The latest books by O’Dell are Secret Ingredients: Step-by-Step ‘Recipes’ for Creating Meaningful Gifts and Here’s To Fabulous You.
This holiday season, Nancy sat down with BELLA to talk about beauty, her career, motherhood, the importance of family memories and how you can keep all your wonderful memories together and preserved through her line of keepsake books.
If you were to write the definition of beauty for a dictionary, how would you define it?
Beauty is defined by the person you are on the inside. It has nothing to do with how you are on the outside. It’s funny because when it really comes down to it, once you get to know somebody, what’s on the inside is really all that matters and I firmly believe in that. I think beauty comes from sincerity and the inner you. It may sound cliché, but I think beauty is reflected on the outside when you live a good life.
