Joe Busciano was the honoree at the 19th Annual Los Angeles Political Roast and what a night it was.
The Italian themed event, a nod to to the City Councilmember’s heritage, was funny, heartfelt and for a good cause as it raised much needed funds for the American Diabetes Association.
California’s most important political and business leaders, “Fat Cats” and “Power Brokers,” attended this light-hearted festivity with Buscaino getting “roasted” by Congresswomen Janice Hahn and L.A. City Controller Ron Galperin.
The event was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and attended by some of the most notable members of the business and political community in the city.
“Being an LA City Councilmember, I see people rag on me daily on Facebook, so putting a target on myself to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for the American Diabetes Association will be my pleasure. Diabetes runs in my family, so I am happy to contribute in this way,” Busciano told BellaLAMag.com
The Los Angeles Political Roast is the only gala of its kind in the United States and is the most unique and sought after political event in the state.
The brainchild behind the event is Arnie Berghoff, whose daughter Laura was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was four-years-old. She gave a rousing speech on the night and shared the effects having diabetes can have.
86 million Americans have pre diabetes and on average 4,660 Americans will be diagnosed with Diabetes every day.
