West Coast living for East Coast dwellers … the best of what to do the next time you’re in California.
Pampering at La Prairie As spas go in LA, Hotel Bel Air Spa by La Prairie is one of the best in the city. Nestled away in a discreet corner of the famed hotel grounds, guests are spirited away into an oasis of bliss for their treatments. Their latest offering to restore the damage caused by our non-stop world is the 90-minute Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Facial. A trio of Swiss extremophile plants and algae found in the collection helps to fortify skin to become more resilient against the accelerated pace of aging and the strength needed to acclimate to life’s hassles. And who doesn’t want that?! The process starts off with a wonderful back massage to relax and invigorate, and then goes on to include a facial massage with quartz crystals, cleansing, blackhead clearing, moisturizing and hydrating with a dab of eye cream at the end made from caviar, which smoothens out lines and reduces bags. The results were phenomenal, long-lasting and the take-away products from La Prairie helps maintain the effects of the treatment. DorchesterCollection.com
Mediterranean on Melrose Fig and Olive is a long held favorite among Hollywood’s elite. There’s not a week when stars like Ryan Seacrest, Lupita Nyong’o, Jennifer Lopez and regulars like Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez are not in attendance at the West Hollywood location. Using only the best olive oils for its Mediterranean influenced cuisine, Executive Chef Pascal Lorange showcases his passion in a variety of mouthwatering dishes. The lamb chops finished with rosemary garlic olive oil melt in your mouth, while the scallops with eggplant caviar and the zucchini blossom and goat cheese ravioli are must-tries. And now with its recently opened Newport Beach location, fans of Fig and Olive can enjoy the celebrated fare in a relaxed and laid back setting with the aesthetic of the French Riviera perfectly captured within the sprawling 12,500 square foot dining space along the California coast. Sidebar/Special Spotlight Hollywood talent manager and producer Steven Grossman and his wife Lisa were initially shattered when their older son Grayden was diagnosed with autism just over a year ago. But they pulled together as a family, along with their youngest boy Landon, and recently took part in Walk Now For Autism Speaks at the Rose Bowl to raise awareness for what is now the second most common children’s development disorder.
The Grossman family personally raised over $7,300 for the walk, and their team pulled in an impressive $650,000. They were also able to generate awareness for their cause by rallying the social media support of his clients and friends, including Naomi Campbell, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne and Nene Leakes.
Steven and Lisa are not only working to educate themselves on what’s best for Grayden but are also working with Autism Speaks, the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization dedicated to funding research, increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders and providing support to individuals with autism and their families.
